The Methanol plant, located in the Garadagh district of Baku, was put into operation in 2013 and was the first production facility working in the gas-chemical field in the country. Low-pressure methanol production technology of the British “ICI” company was used in the construction of the plant. The plant was taken over by “SOCAR Methanol” LLC, a subsidiary of SOCAR, in November 2016, and has been included in SOCAR’s structure since October 2018.
The production process of the plant includes raw-gas mixture preparation, high-pressure steam production, steam reforming of raw materials, synthesis of methanol based on reforming gas, and enrichment of raw methanol.
